Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce Officially re-signs with Chiefs
Mon, Mar 23, 2026, 1:27 PM
Kelce signed a three-year, $54.74 million contract with Kansas City on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Kelce agreed to terms on a new contract with the Chiefs in early March and now officially re-ups with Kansas City, where he has spent his entire career since being selected by the team in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. The 36-year-old tight end has seen his production dip in recent years but nonetheless remains productive, having surpassed 800 receiving yards in both 2024 and 2025. His contract had previously been reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN as a one-year, $12 million deal worth up to $15 million, but Kelce and the Chiefs have instead negotiated a multi-year pact. As such, as long as Kelce opts to continue his playing career, he will be positioned to operate as a key cog on offense for QB Patrick Mahomes (knee).
Justin Fields
Justin Fields Headed to Kansas City
Mon, Mar 16, 2026, 10:07 AM
The Jets are slated to trade Fields (knee) to the Chiefs in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports
Analysis: With Patrick Mahomes recovering from a torn ACL that he sustained Dec. 14, Fields should have an opportunity to work as Kansas City's QB1 this offseason, provided he's past the knee issue he dealt with at the end of the 2025 season. Beyond that, it's possible that Fields -- whose ability as a rusher boosts his fantasy utility -- will begin the 2026 campaign as the team's starter, a potential scenario that hinges on the pace of Mahomes' recovery. Per Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site, coach Andy Reid noted in February that Mahomes has been making good progress in that regard, while the star signal-caller previously noted that he wants to be ready for Week 1 yet acknowledged that he "can't predict what happens throughout the process," per ESPN.com.
Brashard Smith
Brashard Smith Team signs Walker, Demercado at RB
Fri, Mar 13, 2026, 4:02 PM
Smith is expected to fill a complementary role alongside Emari Demercado behind Kenneth Walker in Kansas City's new-look backfield, Pete Sweeney of the Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: The Chiefs have parted ways with Isiah Pacheco and look unlikely to bring back Kareem Hunt, but Walker's expected to handle the bulk of the rushing workload after signing a three-year contract with the team, leaving Smith and the newly signed Demercado to compete for change-of-pace duties. Smith had 44 carries for 151 yards while adding 25 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown on 35 targets in 2025, showing some promising pass catching skills as a rookie seventh-round pick.
Emari Demercado
Emari Demercado Finds new home in KC
Thu, Mar 12, 2026, 7:35 PM
Demercado and the Chiefs have agreed to terms of a one-year contract, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
Analysis: Kansas City kicked off free agency by inking Super Bowl LX MVP and former Seahawk Kenneth Walker to lead the Chiefs backfield, and the addition of Demercado continues to the overhaul at the position. Demercado has racked up 126 carries for 819 yards (6.5 YPC) and three touchdowns and hauled in 50 of 70 targets for 324 yards and one more TD in 40 career regular-season games across three campaigns. He'll be in the mix for touches along with Brashard Smith behind Walker in 2026.
Tyquan Thornton
Tyquan Thornton Returning to KC
Mon, Mar 9, 2026, 10:07 PM
Thornton (concussion) is set to re-sign with the Chiefs, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports. It's a two-year, $11 million deal, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Analysis: After spending his first three seasons with New England, Thornton joined Kansas City ahead of the 2025 campaign and ended up posting career-best marks of 438 yards and three touchdowns on 19 receptions. He also contributed 475 kick-return yards on 18 opportunities. The speedy wideout gives KC a legitimate downfield threat, as he averaged 23.1 yards per catch last year. Thornton ended the season on IR due to a concussion, but there's no indication that the head injury will carry into offseason activities. He'll likely retain a depth wideout role in 2026, though he could move up in the pecking order depending on how else the Chiefs address their wideout corps during the offseason, as both Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster are unrestricted free agents.
Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce Re-signing with Chiefs
Mon, Mar 9, 2026, 4:24 PM
Kelce has agreed to terms on a new deal with the Chiefs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: After weighing his options this offseason, Kelce now is on track to play his 14th season with the Chiefs. While his 76-851-5 output in 17 regular-season games last season doesn't match his peak numbers with Kansas City, the 36-year-old remains a key cog in his team's passing attack, and in turn should maintain fantasy utility in 2026. Per Schefter, Kelce's new pact is a one-year, $12 million deal that has a maximum value of $15 million.
Kenneth Walker
Kenneth Walker Headed to Kansas City
Mon, Mar 9, 2026, 11:27 AM
Walker is set to sign with the Chiefs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: On the heels of his MVP effort in Super Bowl LX, Walker is slated to move on to Kansas City, where he'll immediately slot in as the Chiefs' top backfield option. Meanwhile, Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, who paced the team's group of RBs in 2025, are headed to free agency, so who will work behind Walker this coming season remains to be seen. With star QB Patrick Mahomes bouncing back from a major knee injury that he sustained in mid-December, Walker figures to be a focal point of Kansas City's offense out of the gate in 2026. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Walker is getting a three-year deal from the Chiefs worth up to $45 million, including $28.7 million fully guaranteed.
Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce Looks set to re-up with Chiefs
Mon, Mar 9, 2026, 10:35 AM
Kelce is expected to re-sign with the Chiefs for a 14th season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Kelce weighed retirement this offseason but is now expected not only to continue his playing career for a 14th season in the NFL, but to do so while remaining with the team that selected him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. The four-time All-Pro has seen his receiving production decline over the past two seasons, across which he's averaged just over 800 receiving yards and four touchdowns, but he remains a key component of Kansas City's passing game and will provide stability for an offense in need of reliability, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) recovering from ACL and LCL tears suffered last December. Per Albert Breer of SI.com, Kelce's deal to re-sign with the Chiefs is not yet official but is actively in the works.
Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce Expected to continue career in 2026
Sun, Mar 8, 2026, 3:44 PM
Kelce appears set to return for the 2026 campaign, and the Chiefs are in the mix to re-sign him, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Kelce is an impending free agent and has been considering whether to continue his career or retire this offseason. The four-time All-Pro spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Chiefs, but it's unclear if he'll stay in Kansas City for his 14th season. Kelce racked up seven straight 1,000-yard seasons from 2016 to 2022, and he's totaled 1,674 yards and eight touchdowns while missing just one regular-season game over the last two years. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is recovering from surgery undergone in mid-December to repair ACL and LCL tears, so Kelce will likely be catching passes from someone else Week 1 if he remains with Kansas City in 2026.
Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes Agrees to contract restructure
Wed, Feb 18, 2026, 9:03 AM
Mahomes (knee) recently agreed to restructure his contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The Chiefs add $43.56 million in cap space with the restructure, but they'll still need to make other moves to become cap-compliant before the start of the new league year March 11. Mahomes is in the early stages of his rehab process after undergoing surgery in mid-December to repair ACL and LCL tears. He said in mid-January that he was aiming to be ready for Week 1 of 2026, though he acknowledged that he "can't predict what happens throughout the process," per The Associated Press.
Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce Wanted back in Kansas City
Sun, Feb 8, 2026, 8:39 AM
The Chiefs have remained in touch with Kelce during the offseason and are hopeful to re-sign him for the 2026 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: For the second offseason in a row, the 36-year-old tight end is taking some time to ponder his playing future before he comes to a decision on whether to continue his career or head into retirement. If the impending free agent elects to keep playing in 2026, Kelce's preference would almost certainly be to return to Kansas City for a 13th season, and the Chiefs are seemingly willing to keep a roster spot open for him. Though the Chiefs finished a disappointing 6-11 in 2025 and played without star quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) for their final three contests, Kelce still enjoyed a bounce-back season in terms of efficiency. He played the full 17-game slate and recorded 76 catches for 851 yards and five touchdowns on 108 targets, with his 7.9 yards per target representing a big uptick from his 2024 mark of 6.2.
Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley Minimal action in 2025
Sat, Feb 7, 2026, 3:31 PM
Wiley finished the 2025 regular season with one reception for four yards in five games.
Analysis: Wiley struggled to see the field for the Chiefs in 2025 as Travis Kelce, Noah Gray and Robert Tonyan were all ahead on the depth chart. Wiley played just 52 total snaps (28 offensive and 24 on special teams) as the No.4 tight end. The 25-year-old has two more seasons under contract with Kansas City heading into 2026.
Robert Tonyan
Robert Tonyan Not much action in 2025
Sat, Feb 7, 2026, 3:16 PM
Tonyan finished the 2025 regular season with one reception for one yard in 17 games.
Analysis: Tonyan signed with the Chiefs' active roster in late August after previously signing to their practice squad. The 31-year-old spent the majority of the season as the No.3 tight end behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray. Tonyan is set to hit free agency, where he'll likely compete for a depth role once again.
Jake Haener
Jake Haener Inks future deal with KC
Mon, Feb 2, 2026, 6:08 PM
The Chiefs signed Haener to a reserve/future contract Monday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Analysis: Haener didn't take a single snap during the 2025 season while serving as the QB3 behind Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler (finger). Haener -- the Saints' fourth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft -- appeared in eight games (one start) in 2024, when he completed 18 of 39 pass attempts for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Now in Kansas City, Haener will have the opportunity to earn the backup QB role behind Patrick Mahomes (knee).
Gardner Minshew
Gardner Minshew Avoids surgery, already healthy
Wed, Jan 28, 2026, 1:09 PM
Minshew (knee) will not require any procedures to address the season-ending knee injury he suffered in Week 16 and is already back to full strength, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Minshew missed the final two games of the regular season due to a left knee injury initially reported as a torn ACL and was then diagnosed as a non-displaced tibial plateau fracture, though Schefter now reports that the veteran quarterback merely suffered a bone bruise. After having played out the 2025 season on a one-year, $1.17 million contract with the Chiefs, Minshew will now be fully healthy in time to hit free agency this offseason. If he doesn't reunite with Kansas City, Minshew should have little difficulty securing a backup role elsewhere in the league.
Jason Brownlee
Jason Brownlee Signs future deal with Kansas City
Mon, Jan 26, 2026, 6:33 PM
The Chiefs signed Brownlee to a reserve/future contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Brownlee will be on the Chiefs' 90-man roster when the offseason kicks off Feb. 9, which will give the Southern Miss product the opportunity to participate in OTAs and minicamp. He appeared in six regular-season games for the Chiefs in 2025 but saw limited playing time on offense and special teams.
Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes Hopes to be ready for Week 1
Thu, Jan 15, 2026, 4:37 PM
Mahomes, who underwent surgery in mid-December to repair the ACL and LCL ligaments in his left knee, said Thursday during a Zoom call that his injury rehab is "hitting all the checkpoints," the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: With that in mind, Mahomes continues to target being ready for the start of the 2026 regular season, but given the timing of the QB's injury, such an outcome is hardly a lock. "I want to be ready for Week 1. The doctors said I could," Mahomes noted Thursday, "but I can't predict what happens throughout the process. That's the goal, to play Week 1 and have no restrictions. You want to be out there healthy and give us the best chance to win. I hope to do some things in OTAs and training camp and be able to do things there."
Noah Gray
Noah Gray Production sputters in 2025
Tue, Jan 6, 2026, 4:51 PM
Gray caught three of five targets for 30 yards during Sunday's 14-12 defeat to the Raiders.
Analysis: Gray's production grew year over year from 2021 until 2024, but he took a big step back in that regard during the 2025 campaign, amassing just 21 catches for 178 yards and failing to find paydirt for the first time in his career. With Travis Kelce a retirement candidate, Gray was once looked at as the potential heir to the starting role, but there are certainly questions as to whether he's a starting-caliber tight end. Pending Kelce's looming retirement decision, the Chiefs' offseason moves should be telling about the team's plans for Gray moving forward.
Dameon Pierce
Dameon Pierce Makes Week 18 appearance
Tue, Jan 6, 2026, 4:33 PM
Pierce totaled four rushes for 10 yards during Sunday's 14-12 defeat versus the Raiders.
Analysis: Pierce signed on with the Chiefs' practice squad in late November, three days after being cut loose by the Texans. He was signed off the practice squad roster before Week 16 but remained inactive for both Weeks 16 and 17 before logging four carries for 10 yards in the season finale. The fourth-year running back should hit the open market again this offseason with hopes of earning a home on a 53-man roster somewhere next season.
Jalen Royals
Jalen Royals Minimal impact as rookie
Tue, Jan 6, 2026, 4:15 PM
Royals totaled two receptions (on three targets) for four yards during Sunday's 14-12 loss against Las Vegas.
Analysis: Royals drew some buzz in preseason action, but it didn't translate to any real on-field production prior to Week 18. The rookie's two catches in the finale represent his only pair of catches in his rookie campaign. Chiefs wideouts JuJu Smith-Schuster and Hollywood Brown are slated to become free agents this offseason, so the Royals could have an opportunity to claim a healthier role in his second season if the brass believes in his long-term development.
