Peyton Hendershot
Peyton Hendershot Five catches in 2024
Sun, Feb 16, 2025, 11:13 AM
Hendershot caught five passes on as many targets for 51 yards across seven regular-season games in 2024.
Analysis: Hendershot was traded by the Cowboys to the Chiefs in late August. He signed with Kansas City's practice squad mid-September after being waived from the 53-man roster, but Hendershot was brought back to the active roster in early November after Jared Wiley tore his ACL during practice. Hendershot was on injured reserve between Week 13 and 17 due to a calf injury, but he was activated from IR in late December and was part of the Chiefs' roster during their playoff run to Super Bowl LIX. Hendershot enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent and will look to join a team who can give him a more prominent role on offense.
Nikko Remigio
Nikko Remigio Records two catches in 2024
Sun, Feb 16, 2025, 11:02 AM
Remigio played in five regular-season games in 2024 and posted two catches (on six targets) for 48 yards while adding 295 kick return yards and 104 punt return yards. He added 301 kick return yards and 57 punt return yards across the Chiefs' three playoff games.
Analysis: Remigio spent the entire 2023 season on injured reserve due to a wrist injury that he suffered during training camp. He was unable to make the Chiefs' 53-man roster at the end of training camp in late August, but he opted to stick around and signed with the practice squad. Remigio was signed to the active roster in early December and made his NFL regular-season debut in Week 14 against the Chargers. He was mostly used as a return specialist in the eight games he appeared in across the regular season and playoffs, but he did play 30 offensive snaps in Week 18 against the Broncos. Remigio will look to improve during the offseason in order to earn a more consistent role in the Chiefs' offense for the 2025 season.
Carson Wentz
Carson Wentz Makes one start in 2024
Sun, Feb 16, 2025, 10:50 AM
Wentz finished the 2024 regular season completing 12 of 19 passes for 118 yards while logging zero rushing yards on three carries across three games (including one start).
Analysis: Wentz signed a one-year, $3.33 million contract with the Chiefs in April of 2024 after spending the second half of the 2023 campaign with the Rams. He came in relief for Patrick Mahomes in Week 7 and 15, but Wentz was named the starter for Week 18 against the Broncos after the Chiefs locked the AFC's No. 1 seed after beating the Steelers in Week 17. It was an unimpressive outing for Wentz, who completed 10 of 17 passes for 98 yards in a 38-0 blowout loss. The 2016 second-overall pick enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, and it remains to be seen whether he sticks around in Kansas City to continue to serve as the No. 2 QB or explore his options elsewhere.
Keaontay Ingram
Keaontay Ingram Inks future deal with Chiefs
Thu, Feb 13, 2025, 4:39 PM
Kansas City signed Ingram to a reserve/future contract Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Ingram signed a one-year, $985,000 contract with the Chiefs in February of 2024 after spending the first two year of his NFL career with the Cardinals. He wasn't able to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp in late August, but Ingram was signed to the active roster in mid-September after Isiah Pacheco was placed on injured reserve due to a fibula fracture. Ingram's only appearance of the 2024 season was Week 3 against the Falcons, and after being waived from the active roster Sept. 24 he opted to stick around by signing to the Chiefs' practice squad two days later. Ingram will be on the 90-man roster at the start of the new league year and will be able to participate in offseason training programs ahead of the 2025 season.
Justin Watson
Justin Watson Another decent season in KC
Thu, Feb 13, 2025, 1:29 PM
Watson claimed 22 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns on 32 targetsover 17 games during the 2024 regular season.
Analysis: While Watson hasn't tallied more than 27 catches in a season, he's still found regular playing time during his three campaigns with the Chiefs, likely due to his abilities as a blocker in the running game. Watson's two-year deal with the Chiefs expires after 2024, so he'll enter the offseason looking for a home for 2025 in his age 29 campaign. It's unlikely he'll find his way into fantasy relevance in future campaigns, but the veteran should claim a depth role somewhere again this offseason.
DeAndre Hopkins
DeAndre Hopkins Production declines in 2024
Thu, Feb 13, 2025, 1:19 PM
Hopkins totaled a combined 56 catches for 610 yards and five touchdowns between the Titans and Chiefs during the 2024 regular season.
Analysis: Hopkins was dealt to the Chiefs prior to the team's Week 7 contest against the Bills, and the veteran required a little time to get up to speed with the playbook over the first couple of games but compiled 39 grabs for 408 yards and four touchdowns over the final nine regular-season contests. He was held to just three catches for 39 yards over his three playoff tilts. The veteran wideout's contract voids Feb. 17, meaning Hopkins will likely enter unrestricted free agency again leading into his age 33 season in 2025. While he's unlikely to see a resurgence in his production back to his prime years, Hopkins should still find a home as a contributing veteran wideout somewhere, and he's just one year removed from a 1,000-yard receiving season in 2023 with the Titans.
JuJu Smith-Schuster
JuJu Smith-Schuster Ancillary role in 2024
Thu, Feb 13, 2025, 1:10 PM
Smith-Schuster racked up 18 catches for 231 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 26 targets during the 2024 regular season.
Analysis: Smith-Schuster inked a one-year deal with the Chiefs this offseason, hoping to rekindle some of the flames that saw him register 78 grabs for 933 yards and three touchdowns in 2022, but it wasn't in the cards for him this season. Smith-Schuster saw semi-regular action in games but wasn't a major factor for the Chiefs, even after Rashee Rice was lost for the season due to an LCL injury. The team instead traded for DeAndre Hopkins and coasted by the regular season, seeing a late-season return from Hollywood Brown to pair with rookie Xavier Worthy as the team's primary tandem during the postseason. Smith-Schuster reenters free agency this offseason unrestricted but seems unlikely to recapture his production from 2022 when the Chiefs sported a relatively barren wide receiver depth chart. He'll likely need to compete for regular playing time again at his next stop.
Hollywood Brown
Hollywood Brown Largely lost season in 2024
Thu, Feb 13, 2025, 12:56 PM
Brown finished the 2024 regular season with just nine catches for 91 yards over two games played.
Analysis: Brown joined the Chiefs on a one-year pact during the offseason aiming to better his contract options this offseason, but a preseason shoulder injury cost him most of the 2024 regular season. He did compile nine catches over the final two regular-season contests but didn't contribute a ton in the Chiefs' three playoff contests, combining for just five catches for 50 yards. The vertical threat has missed time in the last three seasons and hasn't really shined in the last pair. However, he still has a 1,000-yard receiving campaign under his belt and is only entering his age 28 season in 2025, so there will likely be several teams interested in his services as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Carson Steele
Carson Steele Early impact as rookie
Thu, Feb 13, 2025, 12:48 PM
Steele rushed 56 times for 183 yards and hauled in seven of his 11 targets for 26 yards during the 2025 regular season.
Analysis: Steele was immediately asked to contribute as a rookie, including a 17-cary effort against the Falcons in Week 3. However, his contributions waned as the season wore on following the return of Isiah Pacheco from a ribs injury and the addition of Kareem Hunt as a mid-season free-agent signing. Hunt and Samaje Perine were on one-year deals with the Chiefs, making the pair free agents ahead of the 2025 campaign. Even so, the front office will presumably add another couple of backs to the room during the offseason via free agency or the draft. Steele will likely need to earn his way up the depth chart behind Pacheco heading into next year.
Samaje Perine
Samaje Perine Works as pass-catching back in 2024
Thu, Feb 13, 2025, 12:38 PM
Perine rushed 20 times for 92 yards and a touchdown during the 2024 regular season, adding 28 catches for 322 yards and a touchdown on 35 targets.
Analysis: Of Perine's 20 carries during the regular season, 11 came in a two-week stretch in Weeks 3 and 4. He contributed a little bit in the playoffs with a carry for eight yards in the Super Bowl and a catch for 17 yards against the Bills in the AFC Championship Game, but most of his extended work came while Isiah Pacheco was sidelined early in the year due to a ribs injury. Perine has still proven to be a reliable pass catcher but hasn't graded out particularly well as a pass-blocker in the last couple of campaigns, per PFF. He'll enter the 2025 offseason as an unrestricted free agent following his one-year deal with the Chiefs and will compete with others on the market and a strong rookie running back crop for a backup job next fall.
Anthony Firkser
Anthony Firkser Staying in Kansas City
Wed, Feb 12, 2025, 6:15 PM
Firkser agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Chiefs on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: The veteran tight end appeared in seven games in 2024 (three with the Jets, four with the Chiefs) but didn't draw a single target while playing just 32 snaps on offense. After ending the season on Kansas City's practice squad, Firkser will remain with the organization as a member of the Chiefs' 90-man offseason roster when the new league year begins March 12.
Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce Pondering playing future for '25
Wed, Feb 12, 2025, 9:18 AM
Kelce said Wednesday in the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast that he hasn't determined whether he'll continue his playing career in 2025. "I'm gonna take some time to figure it out," Kelce said of his playing future. "And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it's gonna be a wholehearted decision and I'm not half-assing it, and I'm fully here for them."
Analysis: Following the Chiefs' 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX this past Sunday, Kelce didn't address his future plans in the postgame interview room, but he took to his podcast days later to make his first formal comments on the matter. Though the 35-year-old remained one of the NFL's most productive tight ends in 2024 with his seventh straight season of at least 90 receptions, he averaged a career-low 8.5 yards per catch on his 97 grabs over 16 regular-season games. Kelce turned in one of his best performances of the campaign in the wild-card win over Houston (7-117-1 line on eight targets), but he was limited to just six receptions for 58 yards and no touchdowns on 10 targets over the Chiefs' final two postseason games. While he hasn't put a timeline on deciding whether he'll keep playing in 2025, Kelce will presumably inform the Chiefs of his plans before the start of the new league year in March so that the organization can prepare accordingly if he elects to retire. Kelce carries a $19.8 million cap hit for 2025 after agreeing to a two-year, $34.25 million restructured contract extension with Kansas City last April.
Jason Brownlee
Jason Brownlee Signs future deal with Kansas City
Tue, Feb 11, 2025, 5:34 PM
The Chiefs signed Brownlee to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports reports.
Analysis: Brownlee was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad Jan. 15 to give Kansas City depth at wide receiver during the postseason. He wasn't elevated to the active roster, but by signing a futures deal, Brownlee will be on Kansas City's 90-man roster when the new league year begins March 12. That allows him to work with the Chiefs' coaching staff during OTAs, minicamp and training camp and work to earn a spot on the 53-man roster for the 2025 season.
Justyn Ross
Justyn Ross Staying in Kansas City
Tue, Feb 11, 2025, 5:24 PM
Ross signed a reserve/future contract with the Chiefs on Tuesday, Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports reports.
Analysis: Ross was unable to make the Chiefs' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he stuck around on the practice squad. He did not record a catch in Week 9 and 10 when he was elevated to the active roster, and he was a healthy scratch for the AFC Championship Game against the Bills. Ross will be on the Chiefs' 90-man roster when the new league year begins March 12, which will give him an opportunity to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp in the hopes of earning a spot on the 53-man roster for the 2025 campaign.
Tyquan Thornton
Tyquan Thornton Inks future deal with Kansas City
Tue, Feb 11, 2025, 5:21 PM
Thonton signed a reserve/future contract with the Chiefs on Tuesday, Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports reports.
Analysis: Thornton was waived by the Patriots in mid-November after a disappointing six-game stretch to start the 2024 season, during which he logged just four catches (on eight targets) for 47 yards. The 2022 second-round pick caught on with the Chiefs' practice squad Nov. 18, and while he wasn't elevated to the active roster for the rest of the regular season or postseason, Thornton will have an opportunity to work out with Kansas City during OTAs, minicamp and training camp.
Isiah Pacheco
Isiah Pacheco Starts, but produces little Sunday
Sun, Feb 9, 2025, 10:21 PM
Pacheco took three carries for seven yards and brought in one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 40-22 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Pacheco was the first back deployed out of Kansas City's backfield in what turned out to be a blowout loss for the Chiefs. Recent starter Kareem Hunt wound up matching Pacheco in total touches, so the starting honors meant little in the one-sided affair. That said, his veteran counterpart is set to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason while Pacheco still has one year left on his current four-year deal. The Chiefs could bolster its backfield this upcoming offseason, but Pacheco stands to be the favorite to start next year as we officially head into the 2025 offseason.
Kareem Hunt
Kareem Hunt Minimal production on four touches
Sun, Feb 9, 2025, 10:15 PM
Hunt took three carries for nine yards and brought in his only target for five yards in Sunday's 40-22 loss to Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIX.
Analysis: Isiah Pacheco technically drew the start against the Eagles, but both tailbacks finished with four touches apiece with neither doing much from a fantasy perspective. Hunt failed to extend his postseason touchdown streak to three games, resulting in a disappointing performance overall. The 29-year-old is slate to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason after rejuvenating his career in Kansas City in 2024.
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy Standout performer in SB loss
Sun, Feb 9, 2025, 10:09 PM
Worthy brought in all eight of his targets for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
Analysis: Worthy ended up being the lone bright spot in terms of stat lines following Kansas City's crushing loss to Philadelphia. The 21-year-old finished with game highs in receptions, yardage and touchdowns scored for either side in what was an incredible individual performance. Worthy finished his first regular season in the pros with 742 combined yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns. His strong play in the playoffs only reinforced the youngster's bright future as a top offensive option for the Chiefs.
Travis Kelce
Travis Kelce Mild output in SBLIX loss
Sun, Feb 9, 2025, 10:01 PM
Kelce corralled four of six targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Kelce failed to stand out in the box score as Philadelphia keyed in its defensive focus on the future Hall of Famer. The 34-year-old appeared to have lost a step in 2024 after posting pedestrian numbers -- by his own gaudy standards -- in 16 regular-season contests (97-823-3). Still under contract through the 2026 season, Kelce will attempt to bounce back after experiencing declines in both yardage and touchdowns scored in consecutive seasons in his 12th year as a pro.
Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes Throws two picks in Super Bowl loss
Sun, Feb 9, 2025, 9:45 PM
Mahomes completed 21 of 32 pass attempts for 257 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while taking four rushing attempts for 25 yards and a lost fumble in Sunday's 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
Analysis: Mahomes was stifled for nearly three quarters in Super Bowl LIX before completing the first of three garbage-time touchdowns with 34 seconds remaining in the third quarter of Sunday's one-sided affair. The 28-year-old superstar saw his hopes of a potential third consecutive Super Bowl title erode away with each ensuing unsuccessful offensive drive against a ferocious unit led by defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Mahomes saw a decline in total production in 2024 despite earning the top seed in the AFC, but he maintained a respectable 2.4 TD:INT in 16 starts in the regular season. The Chiefs will look to regroup following a disappointing showing on the national stage and bring in more talent to surround Mahomes for the upcoming 2025 campaign.
